Sarah Sutton helps make sure Covello Tax Law operates the way clients expect a modern, high-touch law firm to operate: efficiently, thoughtfully, and with as little friction as possible.
As Director of Operations, Sarah oversees the administrative side of the firm, including firm infrastructure and systems, client lifecycle management, billing and collections, procedures and processes, scheduling, vendor coordination, and day-to-day operational support. Her role is ultimately about making sure the systems behind the legal work support both the firm’s team and the clients they serve.
Sarah has spent her entire professional career working in law firms, with seven years of experience in the tax law environment. Her background includes both tax controversy and tax planning practices, giving her a strong understanding of the operational demands that come with sophisticated tax work.
Her approach to operations is straightforward: find the gaps, simplify what is unnecessarily complicated, and build better ways of doing things. That includes improving technology, refining internal processes, supporting the client experience, and helping the firm develop systems that can grow with its clients and team.
Sarah is particularly focused on what happens around the legal work. From the first interaction with the firm through ongoing communication, scheduling, billing, and administrative support, she works to make sure clients have a clear and well-organized experience. Her philosophy is simple: “Question what is. Anticipate what’s next. Build what works. Care enough to get it right.”
Outside of the firm, Sarah lives in Metro Detroit with her husband and their dogs, Lily and Bennie. She enjoys being outdoors, hiking, gardening, traveling, reading, philosophy, jigsaw puzzles, and researching whatever topic happens to capture her interest. She has also spent significant time volunteering in her community, including 12 years with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
