Dustin Covello is the founder and CEO of Covello Tax Law, where he helps entrepreneurs, investors, founders, and executives navigate complex tax decisions with a focus on practical, measurable results.
A tax attorney for nearly 20 years, Dustin has worked across a broad range of sophisticated tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate, estate planning, executive compensation, business structuring, and tax controversy. That breadth of experience allows him to look beyond a single transaction or tax issue and evaluate how the different pieces of a client’s financial and business life work together.
Today, Dustin focuses primarily on proactive tax planning for high-net-worth investors and the founders and executives of high-growth and profitable businesses. His work often involves major liquidity events, complex ownership structures, capital gains planning, and situations where traditional or off-the-shelf tax strategies do not adequately address the client’s objectives.
Dustin’s approach is built around identifying opportunities that others may overlook. Sometimes that means planning for a significant business sale. Other times, it means finding smaller opportunities throughout the year that collectively have a meaningful impact on a client’s effective tax rate. Covello Tax Law’s broader philosophy reflects that approach: sophisticated tax planning should be ongoing, coordinated with a client’s other advisors, and grounded in the realities of how the client actually does business. The firm works collaboratively with clients’ existing CPAs, financial advisors, and legal teams rather than seeking to replace those relationships.
He founded Covello Tax Law to build the kind of tax practice he believed sophisticated clients needed: a modern, white-glove firm combining deep technical tax knowledge with practical business judgment, responsive service, and measurable outcomes.
Dustin is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Tax Section and Estate Planning section.
Outside of his practice, Dustin enjoys running, watching Survivor, and finding ways to maximize frequent flyer miles.
